The Oil Cleansing Method
How to Wash Your Face With Olive Oil

The oil cleansing method is the perfect natural skin care alternative to conventional facial cleansers. It is a super simple and inexpensive way to clean your face.

I have really oily skin, so I was skeptical about using the oil cleansing method.

I was convinced that applying oil to my already oily skin was going result in nothing less than a complete skin disaster!

I eventually put aside my doubts long enough to convince myself to at least give it a try. After all, what did I have to lose?

Since switching to the oil cleansing method, the oil slick is gone! We're talking it's the middle of summer in Florida, and my face shows almost no sign of shine. Amazing!

I'm pretty sure I now know what it means to have “normal” skin.

The following olive oil facial cleanser recipe is by far the most effective facial cleanser I have ever used. I am absolutely amazed at the difference it has made in my skin.

Choose Your Oils

To get started with the oil cleansing method you will need the following ingredients:

Castor oil

Extra-Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
(Jojoba oil, Grapeseed oil, or Flaxseed oil can be substitued for EVOO)

Create Your Cleanser

Next, you'll need to determine the best oil ratio for your skin type. The following ratios are a good place to start, and can be adjusted as needed.

Normal Skin: 1 part Castor oil to 1 part EVOO

Oily and Acne Prone Skin: 3 parts Castor oil to 1 part EVOO

Dry Skin: 1 part Castor oil to 3 parts EVOO

After you've selected your oil ratio, combine the oils in a small bottle and shake.

Cleanse Your Face

Now it's time to purge those pores with these simple steps:

  1. Start with a dry face.
  2. Pour a quarter sized amount into your palm and rub your hands together.
  3. Apply the oil mixture to your skin.
  4. Slowly and gently massage your skin with your finger tips.
  5. Wet a washcloth with hot water, and put it on your face letting it cool to room temperature.
  6. Remove the wash cloth and gently wipe off the oil.
  7. Tone and moistuize skin with your favorite natural toner and moisturizer.
